Advanced Placement

http://www.apcentral.collegeboard.com

Advanced Placement exams are taken after students complete the corresponding Advanced Placement course in high school. Advanced Placement courses are challenging, college-level courses that are designed to parallel typical lower-level undergraduate courses. Exams are developed by committees of college and secondary faculty, and are given to test groups of students in actual college courses to determine appropriate passing scores. More information about Advanced Placement, including descriptions of courses and sample examination questions, is available at http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/apc/Controller.jpf. Page 16 of the AP Calculus Course Description, at http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/apc/public/repository/ap-calculus-course-description.pdf describes how to award credit for the AP Calculus BC subscore. The subscore description for the Music Theory exam is available in the Course Description booklet online at AP Central, http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/apc/public/repository/ap08_music_coursedesc.pdf.

(*) USF does not currently offer this course; however, it may satisfy elective or prerequisite requirements for other courses or academic programs offered at USF. The minimum credits for the course or course numbers listed will be awarded, even if USF does not offer this course.

(Discontinued) The discontinued label indicates that the associated test is no longer administered. Credit equivalencies are provided for students who already have taken the exam.

(1) The BC exam includes a subscore for the AB portion of the exam for Calculus AB credit. USF regards the subscore on the BC exam the same as an AP Calculus AB Exam score.

(2) If student scores a 4-5 on English Language AND English Literature, ENC 1101, ENC 1102, & LIT 2000 are granted. A minimum of 3 credits is awarded if ENC 1101 is already satisfied.

(3) No Literature credit. French Language exam discontinued, combined exams in 2011.

(4) No Literature credit. German Language exam discontinued, combined exams in 2011.

(5) MUT 1111 and MUT 1241 are awarded if both aural and non-aural subscores are 3 or higher.
