EDP 3273 - Learning and Development within the School Context Credit(s): 3 EDP 3273 is an introductory course designed to acquaint students with developmental theories and research that can be applied within a school context. The major goal is for students to learn to apply theories and research to situations with children in schools. The course provides an overview of cognitive development, as well as development theories, with emphasis on elementary school age children. Classroom management techniques and characteristics of effective classroom instruction also are taught. Students learn why it is important to consider individual differences and needs in designing curricula, and how to use data to make instructional decisions.
