Literary Studies Minor

The Literary Studies minor (LTS) is designed to provide curious students with the opportunity to study a wide range of works from a diverse collection of authors. Students engage with fiction, nonfiction, poetry, drama, graphic novels, poetry, nonfiction, comics, and film while developing analytical thinking skills and gaining empathy for multiple perspectives. Classes are discussion-driven and build both valuable career competencies and skills necessary to enter multiple graduate programs.

Minor Core Credit Hours: 15

Select five courses that fit the categories below:

  • One AML course from the Literary Studies concentration
  • One ENL course from the Literary Studies concentration
  • One 4000-level literature course from the Literary Studies concentration (AML, ENG, ENL, or LIT prefix)
  • One 3000- or 4000-level literature course from the Literary Studies concentration 
  • One additional course (any level) from the Literary Studies concentration

GPA Requirement

A grade point average of 2.0 minimum is required for this minor.

Grading Requirement

The minor course minimum grade is a “C” (2.00).  A grade of below C- will not be counted toward fulfilling the minor requirements.
