Italian Minor


TOTAL MINOR HOURS: 15

The Italian Program is an interdisciplinary program with courses in Italian language, film, literature, history, cultural studies, Italian-American studies, and the culture of food, offered both in Italian and English.  The objective of the program is to prepare students to become receptive to the global concerns of our society and to increase their capabilities in such skills as critical writing and speaking, interpersonal communication, effective global citizenship, intercultural fluency and literacy, and more.  These are all skills that are useful for a variety of professions.

Minor Requirements


Minor Core (6 Credit Hours)


Minor Electives (9 Credit Hours)


Students must select 9 hours in 3000- or 4000-level courses except courses in translation.

GPA Requirements


Minor GPA (all USF courses which are applied to minor requirements): 2.0

Grading Requirements


C- or better to meet major course requirements unless specified elsewhere.

Note:  Some USF courses have higher grade criteria to meet prerequisite knowledge necessary for progression into higher level courses.

Residency Requirements


CAS Minor Academic Residency Requirement: 50% of minor must be completed at USF.

Advising Information


USF students schedule advising appointments online through USF Archivum Platform.   Students are encouraged to meet with their advisor each semester to discuss courses planning, degree progression, and career preparation.
