History Minor

The discipline of history embraces a diverse world of ideas, people, and events and seeks to inform and to question, to provoke and to challenge students to a higher level of understanding of the past. The minor in History consists of a minimum of eighteen (18) credit hours.

Minor Requirements


A minor in History is an excellent complement to any undergraduate degree that benefits from a humanities discipline.

Total Minor Credit Hours: 18


Minor Core (18 credit hours)


  • Students must select six (6) credit hours from 2000-level History Department course offerings.
  • Students must select twelve (12) credit hours from 3000- and 4000 upper-level History Department course offerings.

GPA Requirement


The student must maintain a 2.0 GPA in the minor.

Grading Requirement


A minimum grade of “C” of better must be attained in each minor course.
