Literary Studies Minor

The Literary Studies minor (LTS) is designed to provide curious students with the opportunity to study a wide range of works from a diverse collection of authors. Students engage with fiction, drama, graphic novels, poetry, nonfiction, comics, and film while developing analytical thinking skills and gaining empathy for multiple perspectives. Classes are discussion-driven and build both valuable career competencies and skills necessary to enter multiple graduate programs.

Minor Core Credit Hours: 15


Select five courses that fit the categories below:

  • One AML course from the Literary Studies concentration
  • One ENL course from the Literary Studies concentration
  • One 4000-level literature course from the Literary Studies concentration (AML, ENG, ENL, or LIT prefix)
  • One 3000- or 4000-level literature course from the Literary Studies concentration 
  • One additional course (any level) from the Literary Studies concentration

GPA Requirement


A grade point average of 2.0 minimum is required for this minor.

Grading Requirement


The minor course minimum grade is a “C” (2.00).  A grade of C- will not be counted toward fulfilling the minor requirements.
