Chinese Language Minor

TOTAL MINOR HOURS: 18

The minor in Chinese Language is designed for majors in any field who wish to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of Chinese language, culture and society. The minor in Chinese Language is designed to equip students with a foundation in Chinese language and culture necessary to successfully interact with Chinese people.

Minor Requirements


A total of 18 semester hours is required for the minor in Chinese Language. Of those 18 hours, 12 hours are to be fulfilled with required core courses in language and culture. An additional 6 hours are to be fulfilled with electives selected in consultation with a Chinese faculty advisor.

GPA requirements


Minor GPA (all USF courses which are applied to minor requirements): 2.0

Grading Requirements


C- or better to meet major course requirements unless specified elsewhere.

Note:  Some USF courses have higher grade criteria to meet prerequisite knowledge necessary for progression into higher level courses.

Residency Requirement


A minimum of 10 of the 18 hours required for the minor must be completed in residence at USF.
