Mass Communications Minor

The minor in Mass Communications is available to students pursuing any other major at USF.

Minor Requirements


The minor in Mass Communications requires a minimum of 18 hours of School coursework.

Total Minor Credit Hours: 18


Minor Core Credit Hours: 6


Minor Elective Credit Hours: 12


  • Twelve (12) hours may be selected from among School offerings and must include a minimum of nine (9) hours at the 3000-level or higher.
  • Any course with a prefix of: MMC, ADV, JOU, PGY, PUR, RTV, VIC

GPA Requirement


A 2.5 GPA in all minor coursework must be maintained.

Grading Requirements


A “C” (2.0, Not C-) or better is required to meet minor course requirements. 

Residency Requirements


Fifty percent (50%) of the minor must be completed through USF coursework.

Other Requirements


All major course prerequisites must be met.   

Students who wish to minor must apply for admission to the Zimmerman School of Advertising & Mass Communications and must meet all admission standards required of majors. Please see the Major in Mass Communications for more admission information.
