The M.S.M.E degree provides a student with the opportunity to earn the advanced degree with either coursework only or research thesis options. The M.S.M.E with thesis is a research-oriented degree in which the student writes, as a major part of the degree requirements, a thesis that defines, examines, and reports in depth on a subject area relevant to Mechanical Engineering. Both the thesis and non-thesis options prepare graduates for careers in a variety of industries.

Aerospace, Manufacturing, Robotics, Rehabilitation Engineering, AI/Machine Learning, Controls, Solid Mechanics and Mechanisms, Fluid Dynamics, Micro and Nano scale Materials, Biomedical Engineering, and Engineering Education.
Admission Information
Must meet University Admission and English Proficiency requirements as well as requirements for admission to the major, listed below.
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field with consultation with the Graduate Director.
- Two Letters of Reference provided at the time of application.
- A one-page Statement of Purpose provided at the time of application.
- GRE scores are not required but may be submitted for consideration.
