QMB 3302 - Data Analytics for Business Credit(s): 3 Building on the foundations established in the first course of Statistics (QMB 2100 or its equivalent), the purpose of this course is to prepare students with analytical and critical thinking skills required for business decision-making. In particular, this course prepares students with not only the analytics concepts and methods, but also the ability to apply the learning on data from business applications.
Beginning with data and analysis fundamentals, the course will teach methods and techniques in all the areas of descriptive analytics, inference, predictive analytics and modeling, and prescriptive analytics. Through a hands-on approach, the course will cover preparing and exploring data, performing analyses, building models for predictions, and assisting with business decision-making. The course will prepare students to interpret, extract useful information, and communicate findings to help implement data-driven decision making. Students will also develop skills in using some of the tools such as Microsoft Excel, Palisade DecisionTools Suite, Excel Solver, and R for their careers.
