PET 4941 - Internship in Fitness and Wellness


Credit(s): 6-9
This course will provide the final field experience in a community fitness/wellness center serving both general and special populations. Practical experiences will focus on all aspects of program development, delivery, and management.

Prerequisite(s): APK 3120  (min grade B-) AND PET 3312  (min grade C-) AND PET 3361  (min grade C-) AND PET 3370  (min grade C-) AND PET 3940  (min grade C-) AND PET 4088  (min grade C-)
Restriction(s):
  • Majors Only
  • Permit Required

Other Information: It is recommended that students take PET 3076 prior to taking this course, but it is not required.

Must have CPR/AED and First Aid certifications that are current through the internship dates. Must have professional liability insurance that is current through internship dates.

Students in the Clinical Settings track must also take PET 4550  with a minimum grade of C prior to taking Internship.

Students in the Community settings and Corporate Fitness track must also take PET 4413  and PET 3384  prior to taking Internship.

Students in the Strength and Conditioning and Personal Training track must also take APK 4138C  prior to taking Internship.
