The Judy Genshaft Honors College offers an enriched learning experience that combines the resources of one of the country’s top research universities with the personal attention and close-knit community you would expect from a top-tier small liberal arts institution. The College enrolls high-ability students from virtually every major at USF in an interdisciplinary program designed to provide future leaders with integrative ideas and skills that enhance the training they receive in their major area of study. The primary goals of the Judy Genshaft Honors College are to (1) cultivate Practical Wisdom through critical, creative, and collaborative interdisciplinary learning, (2) foster a nuanced global perspective on contemporary issues through an internationalized curriculum and study abroad experiences, and (3) encourage a rich and integrated understanding of personal, social, and environmental concerns through active and reflective community engagement.

Mission, Vision, Values

The mission of the Judy Genshaft Honors College is to cultivate intellectual creativity and critical thinking, ethical discernment, and the desire for a life of learning through both engaged action and skillful reflection. Through interdisciplinary inquiry and experiential learning, both locally and globally, we seek to foster Practical Wisdom. Our curriculum equips students to put ideas and values into practice in order to grow personally and contribute to the broader communities in which each plays a role. Because we value self-cultivation, we encourage creativity and purposeful play. Because we value community, we practice locally engaged collaborative learning. Because we value our environment, we practice careful cultivation and design. Because we value global thinking, we practice responsible citizenship and engaged learning in locations around the world.
