INT 3004 - Introduction to the Interpreting Profession

This course will introduce the history of the interpreting profession, interpreting standards, a discussion of skills and competencies necessary for a variety of interpreting settings. Topics include models of interpreting, the interpreting process, cultural competency, Deaf-Centered interpreting, Deaf/Hearing interpreting teams, professional interpreter organizations, and ethics.
