EDA 6945 Practicum I & Practicum II Credit Hours: 3-8
Field experiences in school systems for identifying and analyzing educational problems and their solutions. Application of concepts developed in the student’s program. The practicum is completed in the student’s last two semesters of coursework. The practicum is the culminating experience of the student’s master’s degree or certification program in educational leadership and provides evidence of the student’s knowledge of the program domains. Registration for the practicum is by permit only.
Additional Information: The Administrative Practicum is a two-semester course designed to link the theoretical and philosophical frameworks of educational leadership to problems of practice. The Administrative Practicum provides candidates with opportunities to explore, apply, and reflect on their knowledge, skills, and dispositions in a field setting. As such, the course requires candidates to serve in a school setting, assisting an organizational leader. The practicum is designed to allow candidates opportunities to practice leadership and administrative work, integrate knowledge from program coursework into school-based leadership work, and assess their professional strengths and needs for further development. Through a combination of ccoursework and field experiences, by the end of the Administrative Practicum and Program, candidates are expected to have developed the necessary competencies to begin to lead a learning community.
