SCE 6634 Current Trends in Elementary and Secondary Science Education Credit Hours: 3
The purpose of this course is to provide students with a forum for interactive discussions of the most recent trends in contemporary science education research literature and understand how they are realized in practice. Hence, current trends are identified in the research base and analyzed in class readings, projects and discussions. Students are invited to examine these topics by way of critical reflection, discourse, observation, tacit knowledge, and with an open mind. Accordingly, we will attempt to acknowledge any psychological predispositions or pedagogical propensities we may have from the onset and examine current practice and potential future trends in science education from multiple perspectives and clear conceptual frameworks.Â
