The teacher candidate is assigned to a school under the guidance of a school-based teacher educator for one full semester during the final semester of your MAT program. It is during this period that the teacher candidate devotes a major portion of the program to taking an active part in actual classroom experiences. Throughout the internship, teacher candidates (TCs) will be afforded the opportunity to apply both theoretical and practical knowledge in an authentic, challenging school classroom environment. TCs are expected to develop and demonstrate accomplished educator practices such as establishing and maintaining high expectations, exhibiting knowledge of the subject matter, and adhering to the various standards of the teaching profession.
