EEE 6387 Photonic Detectors and Solar Cells

This is the third course in the sequence of Photonic Devices courses. Photodetectors are discussed in terms of their role in optical communication systems as well as their broad range of applications from medicine to astronomy. The structure and performance of photovoltaic solar energy devices and their growing role in replacing fossil fuel energy sources are described.
